I suppose the story starts with the season I spent in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico working in marketing/PR for a chain of high-end jewelry stores (escaping winter was just a lucky bonus to the job!) I fell in love with all the beautiful gemstones around me and really came to appreciate the aesthetics of jewelry and the design process behind it.
After my stint in the tropics I settled in Dallas, TX and began taking courses to learn the craft of jewelry-making. Didn't take long before I was hooked! Creating jewelry started as a hobby but soon I was designing for family and friends and decided to launch julie garland jewelry in the spring of 2005.
As for my design philosophy, I try to create timeless styles that mix simple lines with vibrant color combos and playful accents. The collection is constantly evolving and though I keep an eye on current trends I think the pieces still have a classic elegance that ensures they never go out of style!
